T H E L A R G E R  P E R S P E C T I V E

The Mumbai Pune expressway was opened in 2002 in an effort to reduce travel time between the two cities. This reduced travel time from 3.5 hours to 2 hours. The previous highway that was existing can also be seen here. The road has to pass through Western Ghat mountain range, resulting in many twists and turns on the expressway. It currently sees around 50,000 vehicles each day.
