The stadium is situated in the northern outskirts of Ahmedabad. With a capacity to hold 1.3 lakh fans, its is the largest cricket stadium in the world. It was built at an alleged cost of 800 crores, after demolishing the old stadium. It is part of the larger Sardar Patel sports enclave.
