T H E L A R G E R  P E R S P E C T I V E

The Khumba mela is the largest human gathering in the world. It takes place on the banks of the ganga, where more than a million people gather. The image shows the ganga�s river bed covered in temporary shelters, toilets, and access roads build for the event. Numerous makeshift bridges on pontoons are also constructed. The entire infrastructure for all the millions of pilgrims is put up and dismantled within a 3 month period.
