The dam was built in 1960 on the Chambal river. It�s build in the middle of a gorge and stands 62 meters tall. Subsequent dams have been built down stream as well. As a result two lakes are formed on either side of this dam, the Gandhi Sagar and Rana Pratap Sagar, thus creating this unique geological feature.
