The Delhi to Gurgaon expressway was opened in 2008, as a solution to intercity traffic between the two cites. It its early days of operation, when a toll plaza existed here, an estimated 180,000 vehicles used this road everyday. This number has since, only risen. The highway is a victim of its own success. Due to the reduced travel times, people chose to live in Delhi while working in Gurgaon. As a result, Monday morning and Friday evenings sees a surge of vehicles rendering the road ineffective. It is a vivid example of the fact that simply widening roads are not the solution to traffic.
